Erik WILBERS, a national of The Netherlands (1958), is the Acting Director, and the Head of the Domain Name Dispute Resolution Section, of the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center, World Intellectual Property Organization, Geneva, Switzerland. The WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center is an international provider of non-profit services for the out-of-court resolution of commercial disputes, with emphasis on cases arising out of technology and intellectual property transactions. Following studies in The United States and The Netherlands, Mr. Wilbers was a research fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property Law in Munich. Before joining WIPO in 1996, he practiced with the law firm of Clifford Chance in Amsterdam, was on the legal staff of the Iran-United States Claims Tribunal in The Hague, and headed a division of the Compensation Commission of the United Nations Security Council. Mr. Wilbers’ areas of work include the management of Internet domain name cases filed with the WIPO Center. He is also involved in the development of on-line case systems and other methods aimed at increasing the efficiency of dispute resolution. He has written and spoken on a variety of legal subjects, including arbitration and intellectual property. | ||
