Mr. Black, a partner in Orrick's San Francisco office, is a member of the Corporate Group. Mr. Black's practice focuses on outsourcing transactions and the purchase, sale, licensing and financing of intellectual property and business entities involving intellectual property assets Mr. Black's practice includes:
  • Outsourcing Transactions, including counsel of providers and purchasers of business process and IT outsourcing services with respect to the RFP process, the structure and the negotiation and documentation of domestic and international outsourcing transactions.
  • Intellectual Property Transactions, including counsel of technology and non-technology clients in complex transactions, such as mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, licensing and development agreements.

Mr. Black has lectured and written extensively on his areas of expertise. He received his J.D. from the University of Michigan, cum laude, in 1984, where he was the Associate Editor, of the University of Michigan Journal of Law Reform, 1983-1984
