Senior Vice President & General Counsel, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd
Mr. Hegde is the Senior Vice President & General Counsel of Tata Consultancy Services, heading its global legal organization. He is also the corporate secretary of TCS America. Prior to joining TCS, he was a senior associate at Kelly Drye & Warren LLP in its New York corporate and litigation practice group. From 1984 to 1996 he worked with the Reserve Bank of India, as its Deputy General Counsel.
Mr. Hegde’s practice is focused on technology licensing and outsourcing deals. He carries with him the advantage of extensive experience in regulatory and compliance matters – having authored and overseeing several banking regulations in India. In the last ten years Mr. Hegde has negotiated more than 100 major outsourcing contracts for TCS ranging from ten million to five hundred million dollars deal size. He has represented several U.S. corporations in joint venture deals for their Indian operations. Mr. Hegde also carries three years of full time teaching experience – he was a faculty in Jurisprudence and Company Law at the Karnataka University Law College, Dharwad.
A first class graduate in Economics, Mr. Hegde had a well accomplished legal education, earning top ranks at all levels. He earned his basic law degree with top rank from Karnataka University in India. He has also to his credit an LL.M in Commercial law from Karnataka University and an LL.M in International Banking Laws from Boston University Law School.
He is admitted to Practice Law in India and New York.
