Shardul Shroff based out of New Delhi) is the Managing Partner of the law firm of Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A. Shroff & Co. Mr. Shroff is a corporate attorney specializing in areas of mergers and acquisitions, complex buy-outs, takeovers, disinvestments of Government entities, privatization of Government assets and has been involved in many major domestic and international cross border corporate mergers, takeovers, acquisitions and buy-out transactions. His experience in disinvestment and privatization of the Government of India and of the Government of West Bengal entities is immense.

He also counsels Boards and directors, on corporate governance matters and participates in the Independent Directors' Dialogue as an active speaker along with E&Y and Prof. Omkar Goswami. Mr. Shroff has taught at several conferences, seminars and workshops on mergers and acquisitions. He has also taken summer courses at the University of Chicago on "Doing Business in India". He is also a member of the CII Special Task Force on Corporate Governance, chaired by Dr. Naresh Chandra.

He is a member of several committees of the Government of India, FICCI and CII, two of India's leading Trade Associations. He is also an active member of US-India Business Council. He is on the advisory board of the National Law University of Jodhpur. With 28 years of experience in corporate matters, finance, media, insurance, infrastructure, etc., Mr. Shroff has played a significant role in company law reforms. He has served as member on the Justice V.U. Eradi Committee for reforms to corporate insolvency. He has chaired Government of India committees for reviewing Offences and Penalties under Company Law and Valuation methods and principles for disposal of corporate properties, assets and shares.

He has been a member of the 1993-94 and 1996-97 Bhagwati Committees appointed by the Securities Exchange Board of India for drafting and reviewing the SEBI (Substantial Acquisition of Shares & Takeover) Regulations. As a member of the High Powered JJ Irani Committee (2006) he played a major role in providing the outline and helped draft the Mergers & Acquisitions chapter.

He has been highly rated consistently and has several awards and commendations as leading lawyer for his practice in M&A, corporate restructuring, banking, project finance and capital markets.

Mr. Shroff was admitted to the Bar in 1980. Mr. Shroff was admitted as an Advocate-on-Record of the Supreme Court of India in 1985.
