ABOUT BANGALORE
Bangalore is booming. The city has been variously called “India's Silicon Valley", "Fashion Capital of India" and "The Pub City of India". Home to well over 6 million people, and the base for over 10,000 industries, Bangalore is India's fifth largest city and the fastest
growing city in Asia.
The capital of the state of Karnataka, Bangalore is situated halfway betwen the coasts in southern India. The city was founded in the 16th century, and witnessed great southern dynasties like the Kadambas, the Hoysalas and Vijayanagar emperors.
Despite the rapid industrial development that has taken place in Bangalore, another of its nicknames is "The Garden City". That is thanks to many local parks, along with pink cassias, golden acacias, and jacarandas which bloom throughout the city.

Vidhana Soudha:
A magnificent building of the Neo-Dravidian style, houses the State Legislature. It was conceived and executed by Kengal Hanumanthaiah, the former Chief Minister of Karnataka in 1956. |

Bull Temple (Dodda Basavanna Temple):
"The gigantic image of the celestial bull, Nandi, which stands at 4.57 meters. in height, is a classic
example of Dravidian architecture. A yearly festival to celebrate the harvesting of peanuts, (Kallekai parse) is held here during the month of Nov-Dec. which attracts large crowds from all over the state. |
Bangalore Palace:
Once you get over the initial shock of finding Tudor architecture surrounded by Indian urban
scenery, it's quite an intriguing place worth exploring. Bangalore Palace was was built by Chamaraja Wodeyar, Maharaja of Mysore in 1887. The Palace flaunts turreted parapets, battlements, fortified towers and arches. |
