The Law Society
Alison Hook is the Head of International Affairs at the Law Society. Alison joined the Law Society in January 2002. Prior to this she worked for the European Commission, both as Deputy Head of the European Commission Representation in the UK (1997-2001) and in the Cabinet of Sir Leon Brittan in the Commission in Brussels (1993-1997) where she dealt with a wide range of trade and economic issues including antidumping and trade defence policy, programme aid to Central and Eastern Europe, and the application of European law. She also worked for the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office between 1986-93 on international debt and development issues and the Global Economy. This period included one year working in the British High Commission in Lagos.

She graduated in Economics and Politics from Edinburgh University and holds an MA in Economics from Warwick University as well as an MBA from the Open University.
