President's Letter

John Carson
Hon. President,
International Technology Law Association
Dear Colleagues:

On behalf of ITechLaw, it is a pleasure to invite you to attend the February 19-20, 2009 Annual Asian Conference in New Delhi, India. 5th in the series of very successful conferences, this time, we are pleased to take the event to India's capital city, New Delhi, which offers world-class cultural attractions, historic venues, restaurants, and shops.

This 5th Annual Asian ITechLaw Conference, offers you the chance to focus on the latest regulatory, commercial and technology law issues being faced by emerging and growth industries in India and Asia, including software development, telecommunication, banking, entertainment, and semiconductors. Often seen through comparative analysis of global trends, the Conference program is being created with a view to satisfy the needs of both a veteran and a young lawyer alike. You'll learn the latest from the experts in the field, and you are guaranteed to receive the information that you, your firm and your clients need and demand.

The Co-Chairs for the Conference are developing several interesting programs that will both introduce you to emerging areas of law and practice as well as help improve your professional skills and expertise. There will be abundant opportunities to network with regulators, judges and lawyers from India, Asia and around the world. The Conference also will feature the Travelling Fellowship Award (more information available on the website www.itechlaw-india.com and in the eNews), the very successful programme rewarding young Indian lawyers with opportunities to travel and work overseas.

Committee Meetings on Substantive Law Issues are tentatively scheduled to be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2009. These meetings will deal with hot issues on Outsourcing, e-Commerce, Data Protection and IP, in a small discussion group. If you want to get more involved in the activities of ITechLaw in your region, you can attend the Local Representatives Meeting also tentatively scheduled for the same day.

The Gala Dinner with a sampling of Indian cultural events will be the highlight on Thursday evening, and promises to be a superb evening. The I-WIN Committee, geared towards the Woman Lawyer in the Technology Field, will be held on Friday.

Join us in New Delhi for the 2009 ITechLaw 5th Annual Asian Conference!
